A Psalm for Election Day

On this day in chapel, we read the following Psalm... how appropriate indeed it is for this election day.

1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

3though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

4There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.

5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.

6The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.

7The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

8Come, behold the works of the LORD,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.

9He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.

10"Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!"

11The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Whatever comes, the Sovereign God has decreed it, and shall care for His People. We are not cared for because of our inherent worth, or for any earthly reason, but by God's grace and will. Whatever ruler God should put over us, this nation deserves far worse than John Kerry. If he should put Kerry in the White House, so be it, as much as it might chagrin my fellow conservative Christians that I should say it. God knows what he is doing, and in the midst of the persecution, both subtle and overt, that will undoubtedly be on the rise under a Kerry presidency, God will care for us. He is our fortress. Can we not remember that on this day? It is not in the White House, but in God Almighty that our trust must rest.

Tried to vote for Peroutka but he did not make the ballot here in lovely Ithaca. Found out later that there is an ultra secret way to do a write-in ballot. Rats.

Good to hear from you! :) How goes the computational bio gig?

Here in the Corn Belt, we had Peroutka on the ballot. Actually I heard some pretty shady business went on in NY state regarding Peroutka's candidacy being removed after approval.

Will be interesting to see how many in Decorah voted for Peroutka. May be just me :)
