This afternoon, I will be taking a trip to Seattle, to be with my family as we gather together to give thanks to God for the life and faith of my grandmother who was called home last week. She would have been 9 6 years old on the 25th of August.
Please pray for me as I go to spend the time with my family, sharing our memories of Grandma, and particularly as I talk to my father, uncle and my brother. Please pray that I be granted the words that each of them need to hear most - my father, for his comfort; my uncle and my brother, for their understanding of my grandmother's abiding faith and why I can come together with them this weekend knowing with little question where she is at this time. The two of them have wandered greatly from the faith in which they were raised.
Please also pray for my wife, who spends the weekend alone with Abigail and Sarah. It's been a stressful week with the beginning of classes at Luther, and the girls have been particularly rowdy lately. :)
Thanks - reports when I return.
When my grandmother died two years ago it had a profound effect. She had been a real anchor in my family, and nothing has been quite the same since her passing. May God bless you as you and your kin go through this time...
