Insanity Reigns

Naturally the vote yesterday in the Senate disturbs me - but it shows what insanity we are dealing with in the government of this country.

Famous for their socialistic leanings with respect to government oversight, the Democrats declared with near uniformity, that "this is an issue that should be decided by the states". (of course, since Constitutional amendments must be approved by a HIGHER percentage of states than any kind of Senate vote is required to be, this IS an issue that the States to decide) Their claim is further watered down by the fact that the decision in Massachusetts was NOT one the state decided - either by the legislature chosen to represent the people, OR by popular vote, either of which would have come to a different decision than the four "justices" of the state supreme court did. This is an issue that the Democrats are HAPPY to leave to liberal activist judges, who are the only ones who are going to decide the way the Massachusetts group did. States Rights, my eyeball.

The Democrats are also always complaining about how Republicans aren't 'listening to the people', and how THEIR votes somehow reflect the "heart and spirit of america'. I'm not sure how that can be when a very large majority favor traditional marriage. The Dems aren't listening to anyone but their own perverted reason and the homosexual lobby (who for some reason have FAR more power relative to their numbers than any other lobby seems to).

I'm not surprised - just upset that what I have suspected is shown to be clearly true... the legislators of this country don't have much sense, nor much concern to uphold the values I have. Fingers to the wind, (and an ill wind at that) they have made clear expression of their lack of sense of law and true justice.

Will we react to this? Is there any sense in which the Christian community will start to hold their legislators accountable for such errors as this and judgments about abortion? Will we start to demand accountable congressmen? Will we make our voice heard? I doubt it. Call me a cynic.
