As Iraq's national government resumes authority in the land, a news item I found interesting, from The Power Line:

Charles Duelfer, head of the Iraq Survey Group, told Fox News yesterday that "Al Qaeda-connected terror chief Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and other terrorists are apparently trying to recruit Iraqi weapons of mass destruction experts and resources for possible future attacks against the U.S.-led coalition."

Apparently terrorists have contacted a number of Iraqi scientists who were formerly active in Iraq's chemical and biological weapons programs, seeking their aid in providing such weapons for use against the United States.

Duelfer added that "about 10 or 12 sarin and mustard gas shells have been found in various locations in Iraq." These are apparently among the many such munitions that Saddam failed to declare or to destroy, in violation of United Nations resolutions. Saddam's failure to account for his weapons programs and illegal weapons arsenal was a chief reason for the toppling of his regime.

Of course, we can safely assume that terrorists thought of cooperating with Iraq's weapons programs and getting their hands on Iraq's banned weapons only after the invasion of Iraq. (Emphasis mine)

So far, the New York Post is the only newspaper that has reported Mr. Duelfer's statements.

Of course... we can be safe in assuming that it's only because George Bush mentioned to the press the existence of Iraq/Al Qaeda links that Al Qaeda got the bright idea to give the Iraqi government a call. Shame on you, George! Giving the enemies such ideas!
