In reading this morning I came across a quote from Luther that, I have to say, brought quite a smile.
In discussing the importance of our receptiveness to the Word of God, and of its critical nature in providing the foundation of reformation, he wrote:
"I simply taught, preached, wrote God's Word; otherwise I did nothing. And then while I slept, or drank Wittenburg beer... the Word so greatly weakened the papacy that never a prince or emperor did such damage to it. I did nothing. The Word did it all."
Forthright and concise. The Word, my friends, is and must be central in our own personal reformation as well as that of the church.
